Can you please explain to me how yogurt is made? My mom says it is made with bacteria, but I am not sure how something that tastes so good could be made with something that is bad for you.

Barry Shell answered on January 5, 2000, A:

Your mom is right. Yoghurt IS made with bacteria. One type is called acidophilus and you can sometimes see this written on the ingredients list printed on the side of a container of yoghurt. Many other good things are made with bacteria: many cheeses, soy sauce, miso, and even many medicines. There are billions of good bacteria that live in your stomach and help you digest your food. Not all bacteria are bad.
