It appears the Burmuda Triangle Mystery was solved. A book on the subject was published in 1995 called Bermuda Triangle Mystery--Solved by Larry Kusche, ISBN 0-87975-971-2. A Google search on "Bermuda Triangle Mystery" brings up many websites that discuss the solution which fundamentally revolves on the idea of bad news reporting.
