Why does ice make pop fizz? Shouldn't it fizz less since the gas is being cooled?

The liquid is supersaturated with dissolved gas. When the ice cube is plopped in, it makes lots of places for the gas to come out of solution and form bubbles. That's about it. There are other things going on, but the formation of sites for bubbles is the main factor. The gas wants to come out to make the system be in equilibrium. In other words the partial pressure of CO2 in the surrounding air is low relative to the the CO2 dissolved in the water, so it wants to come out of the water and get into the air to balance things out. The temperature of the ice is not a factor because the main thing going on is CO2 gas coming out of solution from the pop.
