Chemistry Question #1436
Jim Weaver, a 50 year old male from Lancaster, PA, USA asks on May 11, 2003,
Since most dehumidifiers work on the principle of condensing on an aluminum coil, is there a possibility of getting trace amounts of aluminum, zinc, copper, or solder byproducts in the water? My concern is based on a conversation with a dentist who is using distilled water 'made at home' like this for his autoclave. He's having some problems with our stainless steel handpieces staining. I realize there are a lot of variables with this issue, but is his source of distilled water used in his autoclave a concern?
