If you found this answer useful, please considerAn orangutan is an "infant" until it is 4 years of age, then it is a "juvenile" until 7 years. Orangutans females older than 12 are called "adult females" but males are called "sub-adult males" after the age of 10 until about 15 years.
These males do not have the big cheekpads or throat pouch seen in the "prime adult males" (15 years and older).
