Q:

I'm doing a senior project on recycling, and I'm curious if it uses more energy to mine and convert aluminum into metal than it does to recycle it. This might help me find other ways of using recycled aluminum.

It takes 20 times the energy to mine and smelt new aluminum than to recycle it.
