R Clark, a 34 year old male from Prince George asks on June 18, 2004,
Q:Can any force be enacted upon a perpendicular slice of air molecules to attenuate the propagation of sound waves? I know that sound waves can not travel through a vacuum, but this doesn't seem very practical. Even if you cannot answer the question, could you please suggest a good resource for understanding the intricate properties of air molecules, and how they behave with respect to sound?
