Why would you want to? Its ethyl alcohol + methyl alcohol (~10%), but its cheaper to buy the mixture than buy them separately and mix them yourself.

Pectin is a complex carbohydrate that forms cross linking hydrogen bonds between itself and water to give a 3D structure which has gel-like qualities.
