Why do ghosts have clothes? That doesn't make sense.

The answer
If you are inquiring about those cemetery-dwelling mist people wafting across the heath at midnight dressed like Charles Dickens at Christmas, then science has yet to contrive a means of confirming their existence. A few of the disparate range of phenomena that could be feasibly described as “ghostly” have been put to test but since the results have never been much more encouraging than “inconclusive”, this question is better asked of Steven King, Steven Spielberg etc.
Anyway, real or fictional, people have seen naked ghosts. It has happened. Poltergeists are invisible and we don’t know what they are wearing. Since naked excursions are practically the point of being invisible anyway, it’s safe to say that some of them are doing their plate hurling in the nude. There are ghost dogs too, such as the one Jim Reeves sang of in the song “Old Tige” (no doggie clothing is mentioned). The Flying Dutchman is the most famous ghost ship and there are ghost automobiles, buses, taxis, planes and buildings. The musical Brigadoon features a whole ghost village with its own mountain.
So, open your mind a bit and the idea of a clothed ghost may not seem so bizarre.
