Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Salary: $96,700 to $130,000 a year

Embassy Flavours is a Canadian owned flavour manufacturer with a focus on the bakery industry. We presently have an opportunity available in our R&D flavour lab for a Certified Flavorist to provide support to the R&D Flavour Laboratory.


Reporting to the Director of Flavour Development, your major responsibilities will involve:


·       Familiar with organic chemicals, solvents, and flavour systems

·       Creation of flavourings to meet the needs of internal and external customers

·       Modifying flavour formula to reduce cost or change flavour profile

·       Converting natural flavour into artificial flavour or vice versa

·       Able to create flavours for various applications

·       Tasting with the technical group and provide comments and direction when needed

·       Providing training to flavourist-trainees to achieve flavourist certification

·       Knowledge in flavour legislation for Canada and US

·       Managing flavour projects from the beginning to completion

·       Liaison with Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Sales & Marketing, and Production teams in a professional and supportive manner to coordinate all necessary element

·       Conduct research to develop new chemical formulations and processes and devise new technical applications of industrial chemicals and compounds.

·       Conduct fundamental and applied research into the synthesis and properties of chemical compounds and the mechanisms of chemical reactions

·       Act as technical consultant in a particular field of expertise

·       May participate in the commercialization of new products

·       May supervise other chemists and chemical technicians and technologists


We are looking for someone that is flexible, accurate, detailed, a self-starter and able to work in a fast paced team environment. A love of food is a benefit as tasting occurs on a regular basis. This is not the job for you if you have food allergies.




·      Minimum 5 year experience in flavour industry

·      Member of the Society of Flavour Chemists or has been under the supervision of a Flavor Chemist for 7 years or longer

·      Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline

·      Highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy

·      Proficient in computer systems (Outlook, Microsoft Office)

·      Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about the flavour and food industry

·      Good organizational and communication skills

·      Work effectively as an individual and as a team member and provide supervision is required
