Father of Canadian parasitology

The Story

Fallis directed the departments of parasitology at the Ontario Research Foundation and the School of Hygiene at the University of Toronto. He served as a consultant for the World Health Organization and is emeritus member of many scientific societies of parasitology. He published numerous papers on protozoans, trematodes, cestodes, nematodes and arthropods and nurtured the careers of generations of graduate scientists. In 1997, the A. Murray Fallis Graduate Award in Zoology was created at U of T. in his honour.
