Tim Collings answered on March 9, 1998, A:

Electronics is just one of many fields in the discipline of electrical engineering. Electrical engineering encompasses many different fields of study. However one invariably can categorize electrical engineering into four broad, central topics - electric circuits, electronics, electric machines and power systems, and systems control and instrumentation. The development of the transistor and solid-state has seen dramatic growth in the field of electronics over the past 30 years and this environment has set the stage for incredible demand for engineers in this area. 35
