Brian Kernighan Matériel et logiciel d'ordinateur

Wrote "The C Programming Language" with Dennis Ritchie.

"C is perhaps the best balance of expressiveness and efficiency that has ever been seen in programming languages. "

L'histoire

Kernighan grew up in Toronto, but did a PhD at Princeton. He pretty much stayed in the United States after that, but he kept his Canadian citizenship. Kernighan worked at Bell Labs when Unix was being invented, and it was written in the C programming language. He helpe Dennis Ritchie write the original book on the C programming language. Kernighan coined the term Unix in the 1970s. The original term he coined was Unics (for Uniplexed Information and Computing Service, a play on Multics), which was later changed to Unix.
